Sweet Green Smoothie
Looking for a way to use up those plentiful spring greens? Add any kind of greens to a fruit smoothie! It’s an easy way to use your produce and get those vitamins and minerals without cooking.
Ingredients
- 1 bunch spinach washed
- 1 cup strawberries washed, leaves can stay
- 1 banana peeled
- 1 orange peeled
- 1 small piece ginger peeled
- 2 cups water
Instructions
Place the ingredients – except the water – into the blender. Add 1 cup of water and blend. Gradually add more water until it blends easily and makes the consistency you like.
It’s best if you drink the smoothie right away, but it is good at any point. If it sits for a while, you might have to stir or shake it.
Use this recipe as a start, but don’t feel constrained! Think about adding herbs like parsley (great source of Vitamin C) or cilantro (Vitamin A and antioxidants). Garden or wild sorrel will add a lemony flavor. Local apples could be used instead of oranges. Blueberries or raspberries instead of strawberries. Kale or chard instead of spinach. Have fun!
