Party Basics

You will get to enjoy two hours in the garden and relaxing on the porch with your party. Feel free to bring your own food, pre-order catering from our Farm Kitchen, or stop by our cafe or farmstand for delicious eats, treats, and drinks!

  • Per Person: Each party guest will get a mason jar to harvest up to 20 stems of their choice, arrange, and take home. Perfect for parties!

  • Per Bucket: Pre-select a number of buckets to take into the field, and harvest the flowers of your choice. Each bucket holds up to 5 pounds of flowers. We recommend this option if you are harvesting for a large event or wedding.

When the party ends, simply load your jars or buckets into your vehicles and take them home!

What’s Included

Orientation to the garden, including general cutting and storage tips, will be provided to the group upon arrival. Mason jars or buckets are included in the price - select the quantity at the time of booking. Scissors are available to borrow for picking.

Note: If you would like to harvest more than you paid for at the time of booking, please ask a flower department staff member. They will provide an invoice for you to take to the farmstand.

Food & Drink

While you’re here, enjoy a picnic on the barn porch!

  • Shop On Site: You’ll find many wonderfully delicious foods and baked goods in our farmstand—made on-site in our Farm Kitchen, using organic produce harvested in our fields. Our Hello Café serves baked goods as well as organic espresso drinks, cold brew, local teas and tisanes, lemonades, and more! For parties of more than 6, please order catering ahead of time.

  • Order Catering: We’d love to cater your party! We can make foods, treats, hot and/or cold drinks, or a combination! Please request catering at least 2 weeks in advance.

  • Bring Your Own: You are more than welcome to bring your own food and drinks! Trash receptacles are provided.

Party Size

You can bring up 16 people to help you cut and arrange your flowers. There are 2 tables and 16 chairs on the horse barn porch available for gathering. We unfortunately do not have adequate space for more than 16 guests.

  • For the Bucket Option: We recommend bringing 5 or more friends to help if you are harvesting more than 5 buckets, to allow enough time to enjoy each other’s company. Otherwise you might end up spending the entire two hours in the garden! There may be other parties booked after you, so please be mindful of timing. For larger harvests of 6 buckets or more, we may be able to adjust your start time.

Accessibility

Our cut flower garden may have limited access to those with mobility restrictions, and our horse barn porch has two thresholds to navigate. Please let us know if your party has particular needs and we will try to help accommodate them as best we can.

Party Schedule

The 2-hour party allows enough time to both harvest and compose tabletop or mason jar arrangements. We recommend spending about 15 minutes mingling, 45 minutes harvesting, and 60 minutes arranging and eating/gathering.

If you are harvesting many buckets and arranging for an off-site event, or creating formal arrangements (bridal bouquets), you will need several more hours. In this case, we recommend harvesting flowers and enjoying time with your party and taking the flowers home or to your venue to arrange.

Creating Arrangements

Our PYO parties are intended for a DIY audience. We do not currently offer bouquet and arrangement services or instruction; we will simply orient you to the garden and provide instructions on how to cut flowers. If you are looking for professional arrangement services, we recommend finding a local florist or event planner to help you.

Flower Variety & Availability

You’ll find an abundance and wide variety of flowers and colors in our cut flower garden from July through September! We cannot, however, guarantee any particular flower or color at any point in the growing season. Because we do all of our growing outdoors, availability of particular flowers and colors can vary from season to season and even week to week. Click here to see what may be available during specific times of the year.

Dates & Times

Dates: July 18–September 13, 2025, on select Thursdays–Saturdays

Time Slot #1: 8:30–10:30 am
Time Slot #2: 11:00 am–1:00 pm

Our pick-your-own flower season runs from mid-July to mid-September, as that is when our field grown flowers are available. Flowers are planted out in May and June, after the risk of frost has passed, which means the blooms are not substantial until mid-July. And because our cut flower garden relies on soil health, we “terminate” the garden in mid-September, even when flowers are still blooming, to allow time for our cover crops to establish and to ensure healthy soil for the next planting season.

What to Bring

You may wish to bring cardboard boxes to safely transport your mason jars or buckets after the party. Guests are welcome to bring their own scissors for cutting, although they are available to borrow at the farm. If you have special vases you would like to use for arranging, feel free to bring them.

Dress appropriately for comfort and safety during your visit. Sunscreen, appropriate layers, raincoats, outdoor shoes, and water bottles are recommended. Weather in Vermont can be unpredictable, so it’s best to be prepared!

Arrival & Orientation

When you arrive at the farm, please park in our overflow parking lot behind the greenhouses [Google Maps pin drop here]. Turn down the dirt road behind our greenhouses and follow the signs for “overflow parking.” We will meet you at the Horse Barn to show you around, get you started with vessels and scissors for harvesting, and orient you to the cut flower garden.

Inclement Weather

Your harvest may need to be rescheduled or canceled if the weather doesn’t cooperate. Mainly, if there is active thunder and lightning or heavy, consistent rain. (All outdoor areas are closed to both visitors and staff during thunderstorms.) Our horsebarn porch has a shade awning, but it is not protected against rain. If it is hot, cold, or moderately rainy, the party is still on, so dress for outdoor fun!

If we have to cancel your appointment due to inclement weather or any other circumstances, we will issue a full refund or work with you to rebook.
