Stronger Together: Building Resilience Through Community and Advocacy
As a mission-driven nonprofit farm and education center, we recognize that food is not just sustenance—it’s a reflection of the values we uphold, the people we support, and the systems we choose to invest in. In the face of shifting policies, economic pressures, and environmental challenges, we feel compelled to stand alongside our fellow farmers and community members, amplifying voices and advocating for a just and resilient food system. And in times of uncertainty, one thing remains steadfast: our commitment to our community and to fellow farmers, educators, and many hands that help put food on our tables.
At Cedar Circle Farm & Education Center, we believe that resilience is built, not given. Through our organic and regenerative practices, we strive to sustain not just the land but the people who depend on it. By prioritizing soil health with diverse cover cropping, reducing reliance on external inputs and fossil fuels, and ensuring fair wages and a sustainable work-life balance for our team, we are cultivating a system that is adaptable, self-sustaining, and forward-thinking. These practices empower us to face challenges with confidence amidst fear of the unknown.
But farming alone is not the answer. Resilience also comes from the strength of an informed and engaged community. It is built when we advocate for policies that support small farms, when we invest in local food economies, and when we stand together to protect our food system from instability and inequity. It comes from knowledge-sharing, grassroots action, and a collective commitment to justice and sustainability.
Our recent workshop with Upper Valley Seed Savers reminded us of the power of small actions—saving seeds is not just about preserving biodiversity, but about reclaiming control over our food future. The same applies to civic engagement: the steps we take today shape the communities we will live in tomorrow.
We encourage you to join our email list and read our newsletter, where you’ll find updates on policies that impact farmers and food systems, along with ways to get involved—whether through advocacy, supporting local food producers, or learning new skills like seed saving.
We invite you to join us in this work. Share your thoughts, your ideas, and your experiences. How do you see our community growing stronger? What role can we all play in building a more resilient future together? Let’s commit to tending both our fields and our democracy with care—because the future we cultivate is the one we will inherit.
Together, we can create a food system that is just, sustainable, and deeply connected to the people it serves. Thank you for being a part of this community and for standing with us in this important work.
