Willing Hands Partnership

Two in every five Vermonters struggles with hunger, and although many of us don’t see it day-to-day, the Upper Valley is no exception.

At Cedar Circle Farm & Education Center, we’re committed to our partnership with Willing Hands and to doing our part to provide fresh produce to families in need in the Upper Valley.

Willing Hands Garden

Half a mile south of our farmstand on Pavillion Road, behind our blueberry patch, is a 2-acre garden dedicated to growing produce for immediate distribution by Willing Hands. This garden is a collaboration between Cedar Circle Farm & Education Center and Willing Hands and is maintained through twice-weekly work parties. On Tuesday mornings and Thursday evenings, Willing Hands staff and volunteers plant, weed, harvest, wash, and pack produce for distribution. In 2020, over 23,000 pounds of produce was grown in the Willing Hands garden.

Gleaning

Willing Hands volunteers come to Cedar Circle regularly to glean from our fields. The work of these dedicated volunteers means that thousands of pounds of fresh, organic, produce “seconds” don’t go to waste, but instead, get distributed by Willing Hands to community organizations in the Upper Valley that serve our neighbors in need.

Give Local Food

Cedar Circle is proud to serve as a partner farm through Willing Hands' Give Local Food Program, formerly known as “Share A Share."  This partnership celebrates delicious, locally grown food, strengthens the local farm economy, and supports community members by making fresh food more available to everyone.
