Farm Based Education
- Cornell Garden-Based Learning – Provides educators with inspiring, research-based gardening resources and professional development.
- Dartmouth College Organic Farm – A hub for hands-on learning at Dartmouth, it is home to an educational working garden, sites for faculty research, student research and independent projects, and classes.
- Hampshire College Farm Center – A working farm and thriving educational center that provides local, sustainably-raised produce and meat, as well as rich educational opportunities.
- Institute for Applied Agriculture and Food Systems at VTC – Supports students, farmers, working land professionals and agricultural specialists with educational opportunities related to animals, plants, trees, soils, food systems, sustainability, mechanical systems and agriculture business management.
- Junior Iron Chef – A statewide competition for middle and high school students that highlights local agriculture, promotes the culinary arts, and raises awareness about the complexity of our school food systems.
- North East Workers on Organic Farms (NEWOOF) – A regional Farm Apprenticeship Placement Service.
- Northeast Sustainable Agriculture Working Group (NESAWG) – A network of over 500 participating organizations and thousands of individuals carrying out farm and food systems endeavors in 12 states and Washington D.C.
- Shelburne Farms – Shelburne Farms is a nonprofit education organization whose mission is to cultivate a conservation ethic for a sustainable future on a 1,400-acre working farm in Vermont.
- Sterling College Sustainable Agriculture Program – The Sustainable Agriculture program combines academic study, experiential challenges, and work.
- Stockbridge School of Agriculture – Stockbridge provides A.S. and B.S. degrees at the University of Massachusetts as well as training leading to M.S. and Ph.D’s.
- The Farm School – Multi-day farm experiences for students, a year-long program to train adults in practical sustainable agriculture, and a full time middle school program in Athol, MA.
- The Middlebury College Organic Farm – The Middlebury College Farm and Food Project promotes awareness of issues surrounding food production.
- The Mountain School of Milton Academy – Each semester 45 motivated high school juniors from all over the country come together to live and work on the school’s farm in rural Vermont.
- Upper Valley Farm to School (UVFTS) – Supports educators, farmers, and community members working to integrate local food and farms into schools in the Upper Valley region of VT and NH, to promote student health and well-being.
- UVM New Farmer Project – An access point to all the organizations, services, and educational opportunities for Vermont’s new and aspiring farmers.
- Vermont Food Education Every Day (VTFEED) – Vermont FEED works with schools and communities to raise awareness about healthy food, the role of Vermont farms and farmers, and good nutrition.
