Flora Krivak-Tetley

Research Director

As Research Director, Flora studies the ecological and social dynamics of Cedar Circle to better understand how to build regenerative regional farming systems that support community resilience. She is an ecologist, field-based educator, community-builder, and outdoor enthusiast. Flora holds an MS from UC Berkeley and a PhD from Dartmouth College and has published widely on topics ranging from agroecology and soil health to carbon modeling and climate change resilience.

Originally from the Willamette Valley in central Oregon, Flora was raised by botanist parents and spent most of her childhood summers working in the garden, canning and freezing food for the winter, or hiking and camping in the Cascade Mountains. She first moved to the Upper Valley to attend college, then returned to the West Coast for field work and graduate school before landing back in the Upper Valley in 2013.

Outside of Cedar Circle, Flora teaches in the Environmental Studies department at Dartmouth, wrangles a few dozen chickens and a puppy with her 8-year old daughter and husband, and is working on hiking or running all of the trails in the White Mountain Guide. Her next project? Raising milk goats at her home in Lyme!
