
Vegetable Processor

June - December, 40 hrs/wk
We are seeking a Vegetable Processor to join our Kitchen Team! Our Farm Kitchen prepares a variety of foods for our farmstand and café using fresh, organic produce grown in our fields. We are looking for a detail-oriented and efficient individual to help process vegetables as they are harvested, ensuring they are properly stored or prepared for immediate use. The position is for 5 days per week, including weekend days if necessary.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Clean, chop, and prepare vegetables for short-term and long-term storage
- Pickle, can, and freeze vegetables following food safety guidelines
- Dehydrate or ferment vegetables as needed
- Maintain an organized inventory of processed and stored vegetables
- Label and track processed goods for proper rotation and usage
- Assist the kitchen team with food preparation tasks as needed
- Follow food safety and sanitation standards, ensuring a clean and organized workspace
- Communicate regularly with the Vegetable Production Team regarding harvest schedules and available produce for processing
- Monitor equipment and tools used for processing, reporting any maintenance needs
- Efficiently manage time to handle high volumes of produce during peak harvest seasons
QUALIFICATIONS
- Professional kitchen experience is preferred, but we are willing to train the right person
- Experience with food preservation techniques (canning, pickling, freezing, fermenting) is a plus
- Ability to work independently and efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and remain on your feet for an entire shift
- Comfortable working in a warm and humid kitchen environment, especially during peak harvest months
- A positive attitude, flexibility, and a willingness to collaborate with a team
- Knowledge of food safety practices and proper handling of fresh produce is preferred
COMPENSATION
The Vegetable Processor position is full-time and seasonal, from June through December, with benefits including paid sick leave, fresh produce, and a 20% discount to our farmstand. Pay range is $15-17/hr, depending on experience. Ability to work the full season is a plus.
