About Summer Camp at Cedar Circle

Cedar Circle Farm & Education Center is hosting the ninth year of its unique, farm-based summer day camp program for children ages 6-11. Eight individual weeks of camp, Monday to Friday, are scheduled from June 23 to August 15, with a mandatory staff training session from June 16 to 20. The camp day runs from 9 am to 4 pm, and Educator’s time on the farm will typically be 8:30 to 4:30. There is a capacity of 30 campers per week, and Educators will guide a group of about 10 during camp activities and farm explorations. Educators will be assisted by a Mentor Educator, who floats between groups and activities throughout the day. Mentors In Training and, sometimes, adult volunteers may also be available to assist.

About the Position

The Summer Camp Educator role is perfect for experienced educators looking to expand their skills in outdoor, place-based learning while mentoring future educators. You’ll collaborate with a supportive team to create engaging curricula, guide farm explorations, and foster a safe and inclusive learning environment. Responsibilities

  • Facilitate programs (lead hands-on adventures) that spark curiosity about nature, food, and farming, guiding campers through engaging activities and farm explorations
  • Be a role model—supervise and support campers, helping them navigate challenges, resolve conflicts, and build confidence
  • Prioritize the physical and emotional safety of campers; create a safe and welcoming space where kids can explore, learn, and thrive on a working organic farm
  • Collaborate with a passionate team to design weekly schedules and develop curricula that are fun, age-appropriate, and bring our educational mission to life
  • Participate in daily debrief meetings to reflect, innovate, and improve the camp experience for all
  • Interact with families by welcoming parents and caregivers and sharing the joy of their child’s camp experience
  • Mentor young educators by guiding and delegating tasks to Mentor Educators and Mentors in Training
  • Help with set-up, clean-up, and all aspects of programming to keep camp running smoothly
  • Complete other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Required

  • Experience working as an educator, whether as an outdoor educator, classroom teacher, or similar role
  • Enthusiasm for experiential, place-based learning
  • Strong leadership and group management skills
  • Commitment to inclusion and equity
  • Adaptability and problem solving skills
  • Interest in food, gardening, and nature
  • The physical and mental stamina to work outside in all weather conditions and keep up with an active group of kids
  • CPR and First Aid Certification (we will provide certification if you do not have it)

Preferred

  • Background in environmental education, food systems, gardening, or sustainable agriculture
  • Experience mentoring or coaching younger educators, counselors, or volunteers
  • Creativity and a willingness to be silly
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills

Compensation

The Summer Camp Educator position is an hourly position with benefits including paid sick time leave, fresh produce, and a discount to our farmstand and cafe. Salary range is $15-16/hr, depending on qualifications.
