Cat Buxton, Education Coordinator
Cat Buxton began coordinating the education and outreach programs for Cedar Circle Farm in the fall of 2007.
She is the Farm Tour Guide for our educational tours, teaches and organizes workshops, plans our harvest festivals and other farm events, manages the farm Teaching Gardens, and works with schools and within the community to promote organic agriculture, healthy choices, and the farm’s educational mission.
Cat is the school garden coordinator at Thetford Elementary School.
She works with several citizens groups to promote a farm-based education system and economy:
- Upper Valley Farm-to-School, steering committee member
- Pompanoosuc Agricultural Society
- Thetford Community Garden Committee
- Valley Food Council, council member
- Upper Valley Food Coop Community Garden Committee
- NOFA’s Farmer Correspondence program
Cat is also a professional garden adviser and runs an ecologically sound home cleaning business with her husband. Cat says:
Access to good food is a top priority of mine, and celebrating good food is a passion. After moving to the Upper Valley with my husband in 1999 I quickly became involved with local food; co-ops, politics, farms, and gardens.
It is my job to tell the world about all the good food that our amazing staff and our healthy soil produce together, and the possibilities that grow from our work.
Working for Cedar Circle Farm is an amazing opportunity to expand my knowledge and experience while sharing our beautiful farm, our love of the land, and the food we grow with the surrounding community.
